SIMONE - THE BANDOften referred to as a cross between No Doubt and Led Zeppelin, Simone continues to break convention with their own style. Influenced by the underground Detroit scene as well as the post-pop alternative sounds of Amsterdam, Simone remains in a class all their own. 'Strong riffs, hooks and melodies make Simone a highly-listenable band' (Miramar Management), but it is the energy of the live performances that Simone is best known. Sharing the stage with bands such as LA Guns, Bullet Boys, Dishwalla, Box Elder's B-liminal, The Sammus Theory, A Love Not Lost, Driving The Fall, Anyone's Guess, Selby, One Fall Away, At Cliffs End, Pellets On Target, Stranded and many others, Simone exceeds expectations. Known for their live performances -- "[Simone's] got the look, got the voice, got the songs" (Steve Gilmore, Rebel Riffs), Simone tours throughout the US and Europe. Their music has charted on GarageBand, StereoFame, OurStage, NoiseHead and Imeem, and their independent release "Temporary Heaven" was awarded the Excellence In Audio Recording award in 2007. SIMONE - THE SINGERSimone is a singer, songwriter and plays guitar. She was born in Detroit, Michigan and grew up in both Detroit, and across the border in Windsor, Ontario. She has been singing since she was a child, and after prep school took classes at the performing arts Center for Creative Studies in Detroit. Her first lead singing role was with the alternative rock/lounge band Punch-n-Kitty in the mid to late nineties. Between 1993-96, Simone was the lead singer for the Detroit underground group Teknotika, originally on the legendary Underground Resistance label, and later an independent. Along with musician/producer Gary martin, this electronica act performed in various clubs and venues around the Midwest as well as overseas in Denmark, Holland and the UK. Their single "Universal Love" was an underground dance hit in nightclubs in Scotland, and their earlier track ‘Take Me" was a hit with New York DJ’s and saw considerable rotation at the Sound Factory nightclub. In the mid-nineties she had an inner yearning to seek a more fulfilling life than the current scene could offer. Little did she know at the time that the wisdom she would gather in these next years would come full circle with her music again. Simone moved to the Central Florida coast where she started a new chapter in her life. The many changes that occurred within, led her to start from the ground up as a person and an artist. In 2004, Simone recorded her CD On My Way with artists Billy Van Riper on guitar, and Ron Pirtle on bass. An eclectic record of 12 original songs written by Simone and the jazz standard Moon Glow. In the Spring of 2005 Simone became the front person for Simone & the Inlet Band (performing vocals and guitar). The band played Simone’s original songs as well as cover material. In December of that year they won the 2005 Battle of the Bands contest at The Sun Shoppe Café in Melbourne, Fl. Simone has since moved on from the Inlet Band and is focused on building her career as a solo artist. Rich, deep, smooth, and heartfelt, are the words that describe Simone’s voice. She has the gift of presence in her performance and people take notice of that spark from within. Simone plays rhythm guitar and composes and plays lead guitar as well. Simone’s songs are inspired by her own experiences and what she sees in the world around her. When writing her lyrics and music she often digs deep to find and expose the treasure within. Thus is her nature and who she is.
