The One Room School House Project Reviews

One Room has done eberything I have ever asked of it for my child. It is a beautiful campus, very homey, not institutional at all. The multicultural atmosphere is wonderful and unusual in this town. The small size of the school and classes makes it possible for no child to be left behind

I am very pleased with every aspect One Room has offered my children, not only academically. I have had 3 children attend, a grandchild and friends children come to One Room because of the wonderful experience my children/family have had there. It was our 'rock in the storm' when public schools were just not cutting it with one of our children. One Room offers so much one on one and has such smaller class sizes that my child was able to catch up to his grade level and exceed further due to all that extra one on one he received. I am forever grateful to the One Room School House and I would recommend this school to anyone asking.

There are a few things to really love about this school: the older children are assigned crossing-guard positions, which seems to effectively teach courtesy and responsibility (each morning, a child holds the door open for parents and other children, and when its raining, we've had these children hold umbrellas for us from our car to the front door! Both the staff and the students exemplify a great deal of courtesy and respect for one another (a little unusual these days, but oh so welcomed!). The playground isn't much to talk about, nor are the extra-cirricular activities (in the after-school program), but other than that, this small-community really feels warm, like home!

I would agree that the 'gifted' program is not at all challenging. It was in no way 'enriching'. This school is definitely built on the 'grassroots' movement philosophy of education.

This is a great school. It is one of Florida's oldest and most prestigious charters. One Room makes AYP consistently and a grade of A.

While the teachers and prinicipal were personable and caring to the children, I felt that the academic work was far below the level required by my child. Due to the size of the school, their were no real extracurricular activities available to the students - even those participating in their aftercare program. The school, in general, and the bathrooms, in particular, were never kept up to the level of cleanliness that one would expect of a school. Finally, the school never scheduled parent teacher conferences throughout the school year.
