F. W. Buchholz High School Reviews

This school is absolutley amazing in every way. The teachers are amazing. The academics is amazing. The clubs are amazing as well as the football, basketball, lacrosse ect. Team. We have great programs and clubs. I am part of the bhs photography club which is really fun. The teachers really have a way with teaching us, although im a freshman, i get along with a majority of people at this school, because everyone is very friendly(:

BHS is a great school. We transferred to Gainesville at the start of my sons Junior year and purposely choose the Buchholz district. The AP teachers all take a lot of their own time to prepare their students for the AP exams. Lots of clubs, sports and band activities.

Buchholz is a great school. It is the highest level academic school in Gainesville. I looked at every school in the city and I am extremely happy with my choice. I'm involved in student government, athletics, and clubs. This is one of best schools you will find and I would strongly suggest it. I also think it is important to see the school from the point of view of a student rather than a parent as well.

I think it is a great school. I have found the teachers to be eager and willing to communicate with involved parents. My daughter has made many good friends and she is busy after school with clubs. I have found that I was really worried about what public school is doing for SAT prep so I sent her to Huntington. I have a son in elementary school and found it was good for him too. They communicate with the teachers and the teachers have been willing to communicate back. Guidance department is very helpful!

Buchholz is a great school. The school has many great teachers and is a safe environment. Besides academics, Buchholz has great clubs, extra curricular activities, and athletics. I would strongly suggest this school over any others in the area or state.

Buchholz has been a great school to be a part of, they have one of the top bands in the nation, placed 2nd place in the National Mu Alpha Theta competition last year (planning to be the champions this year), have great sport programs, but along with that the academic programs are top notch. While Gainesville does have Eastside, the IB school, Buchholz compares well with them as far as Ap exams and FCAT, and SAT scores. But the student population at BHS is more diverse and it does have good programs such as the Finance and Entrepreneurship programs, 'math competition track,' and performing arts programs.. Overall it's a good school.

The JROTC program is one of the best around. They teache leadership skills and many other usefuls skills throughout life.I would recomened it just for the JROTC program.

Both my children have gone to Buchholz and it is a school where each of them is encouraged to do their personal best. The teachers are highly skilled and work hard to bring out the best in each child. Extracurricular activities are varied and plentiful.

Great School, with a great academic reputation.

This is a great school with great curriculum and nice teachers.

I think Buchholz is the best school ever. They actually have teachers who care about their students beng their best.I've only been their a year so far it's been the best.

I have two children who have attended Buchholz, one graduated in 2000, one is currently a senior. I have been very happy with the school. Both my children were in the 'college prep' line, taking AP/Honors courses. The school has prepared them for college while still providing a well-rounded, social atmosphere. I feel this is necessary in order for children to develop in all areas of human nature, not just intellect. Overall, Buchholz has been an excellent school for my children, both in preparing them for college and preparing them for the real world.

Choosing Buchholz over Eastside and Gainesville High School is we well chosen idea. Buchholz extracurricular activity is so good it is almost too much, teachers are excellent and know what it is they're teaching, and the school has very minimal disciplinary problems.

I have serious concerns about the leadership quality of the principal and magnet program directors. I believe that the success of the school is largely in function of the student body and teachers. Both the quality of the faculty and students would be greatly enhanced by a more dedicated administrative office and principal.

After moving from GA. both children had a hard time adjusting to the higher quality of learning and prestige standards expected from Alachua County school system. These past 3 years have been a challenging yet great experience for the entire family! One graduated from Buchholz and the other just started here this year! They both have truely learned a lot of life long skills taught through the school which has and will continue to help them throughout their entire life.

It's a great school! The faculty and staff are dedicated professionals who have high expectations. The Career Center Counselor provides career, college, and scholarship information that was very helpful for my child. As a parent I find my volunteer work informative and very much appreciated! There is a reason it's an 'A' school!

My son was class of 2002 nad loved 3 out of 4 years. Even the bad year was not that bad. They have a great drama program. My son is now majoring in technical theater the University of South Florida where there are now 4 other BHS grads. The theater program at USF is very happy with all of them.

One of the better schools in Gainesville. Buchholz has some good teachers but most don't care. Parent involvement is not welcome. They are very sports oriented and if you're not then you don't count. I have 3 kids currently attending this school.

i have 2 boys who have attended and they love it! great boys and girls athletic programs! football, baseball and soccer...have sent kids to univ of florida through their football, softball, baseball programs.

Overall this school was great. My daughter started her high school hating it, and ended up hating to graduate in the end. There is so much offered in extracurricular activities and most teachers were great. The Career resource center was unique and amazing! It helped get my daughter several scholorships to college!!!
