Alachua Elementary School Reviews
Quality Score: 5 Post Date:2009-08-12
“The teachers and couselors are wonderful. My grandson was under performing as he entered 3rd grade and by the time he took the FCATs he reached expectation and > 5th grade math. The family helped, we monitored him and he was tutored by school system. He worked hard. Would not have happened without the guidance of the professionals which includes speech, counselors, tutor program, principal, secretary, school nurse, teachers and latchkey. This school is outstanding.” This review was posted by a other.

“My son, Logan, transferred from Glen Springs Elementary to Alachua Elementary for his 5th grade year. We couldn't have been more pleased or happier with this school. The teachers are all hands on and so very friendly, caring and helpful. It reminds me so much of the elementary school I attended as a child. K. Chircop” This review was posted by a parent.

“I am very impressed with Alachua Elem. My son has moderate ADHD, and his previous schools always looked at him as a problem or an issure rather than as a little boy. Here he has been welcomed and loved and treated with dignity and respect. He is flourishing and doing great. We nolonger get notes home about not finishing work or poor attention. He is excited to go to school and excited about learning. They have an awesome extended day program with activities and field trips. My son looks at me when I pick him up and asks 'can't I stay longer!. The free breakfast for all students this year really puts them on the right track. Love the school.” This review was posted by a parent.

“I have interned at Alachua Elementary for both my pre-internship and full-internship while a undergrad and graduate student at the University of Florida. I have volunteered at many Gainesville schools, and Alachua is my top pick! The overall environment of the school, the commununity of the students and teachers, as well as Mr. Brandenburg and his constant involvement and support instantly drew me in. I instantly felt accepted by the staff at the school, as well as the parents and students. Art, music, PE, and technology are constantly integrated into the children's school day, as well as extensions such as a greenhouse, garden, birdfeeding station, and science lab. These elements make Alachua Elementary stand out above all of the rest. I strongly recommend anyone interested in choosing this school for their students to go and check it out for themselves. It is a wonderful community and amazing school!” This review was posted by a teacher.

“Very caring teachers. Excellent computer training. Lacking in extracurricular activities. Communication with parents is not timely which adds further stressors to professional parents whose schedules are not flexible on a daily basis” This review was posted by a parent.
